
Leave Behind Naloxone Basics
Course Overview
This training equips participants with foundational knowledge and practical guidance on implementing leave-behind naloxone programs. Learners will explore eligibility criteria for both patient and non-patient recipients, proper documentation and distribution logging, and the legal considerations surrounding expired naloxone. The course also provides a brief history of the opioid crisis and the critical role naloxone has played in reducing overdose deaths, empowering providers to take informed, life-saving action in their communities.
Course Objectives
Identify eligible recipients of leave-behind naloxone, including both patient and non-patient populations, in accordance with program guidelines.
Explain proper documentation and logging procedures for naloxone distribution to ensure compliance and accurate record-keeping.
Understand the legal protections of distributing expired naloxone
