Objectives
Analyze the unique challenges and characteristics of addiction in rural communities, including the social, economic, and healthcare-related factors that contribute to substance use disorders.
Examine addiction as a chronic, treatable disease, and identify differences between types of treatment and recovery services.
Explore medication treatments for opioid and other substance use disorders and determine the appropriate level of care based on patient-centered factors.
Evaluate provided treatment and recovery resources to integrate into future staff education.

Zachary D’Argonne (he/him/his)
Zachary is the Chief Executive Officer for The Eastern Plains Healthcare Consortium, a rural health association in Colorado that specializes in advocacy and hospital sustainability. Zachary spent his early career with Health Corporation of America and held various roles including Division Vice President of Rural Health/Tele-Health and Vice President of Business Development at Swedish Medical Center. Zachary entered the healthcare workforce as a child and adolescent grief and trauma therapist. He earned his master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University and his bachelor’s degree from The University of Denver. D’Argonne is a proud board member of Friends for Youth, an organization that supports positive mentorship development for at-risk youth in the Denver metropolitan area.
